This piece is meant to be idea-driven, and based on the fact that I love music, and that I lean on it whenever I feel strongly. I chose to include my ukulele rather than a guitar or earphones because I think they are less common, and speak to how I'm not like most people. I worked outside of class for the majority of this project. In the Old Masters' drawing, I did most of the project in school, but I think that since this project forced me to think deeper about its concept, I worked on it at home to focus without any distractions. The main challenge I had with this project was the smearing. I'm not accustomed to charcoal, and I've only started using it this year. Because my hair is so dark, my hand kept smudging the dust on it, and I ended up just painting over the background because it was so messy. I also avoided the strings and details on the uke because the chalk pastels I used were so thick. I think that this project has inspired me to work on a larger scale and keep trying new media. I would give myself an A, because I'm happy with how this turned out, and it blends my old drawing style with a new style.
